Interesting Information

So ... I was looking at another blog the other day who's owner was touting the wonders of these new pen's that work in the Cricut. They are magnetic and the holder for them fit's in the Cricut just like the one that Provo Craft makes.
I haven't bought any markers or pens yet, because you have to buy the holder too. And the whole thing is rather expensive.
These new pens are not made by Provo Craft, who has been conspicuous in their silence about them. So I sent PC an email to ask them about the magnetic properties of these pens and whether or not the use of magnets will harm my Cricut, and if it would, would that then void my warranty.
The response I got was "these pens are not made by Provo Craft," (I knew that)and "the use of any non PC item will indeed void the warrenty."

Well that was part of the question. But they didn't answer me about the magnetic issue. I know that magnets can do damage to lots of things. But I still don't have the answer to that. However, I guess I'm not going to use the other pens, even though they are cheaper. I just don't want to do anything that will put my machine in jeopardy. It is rather an expensive thing to have to replace!

So anyone out there who has these pens. If something goes wrong with your machine (I sure hope not!), maybe you shouldn't tell them about using anything other than PC add ons. I don't mean to promote lying, I just want you all to know about the company's stand on this issue.

Anyway, I guess I'll save my pennies to get the pen holder. Living on a fixed income is a real pain in the pocketbook!!! I wish some of our polititions, or maybe even all of them, from the President on down, should live for a year on the average Social Security income. Maybe they'd understand what it's like to be the average
American citizen!
OK well, enough whining for today. I hope everyone is having a great day, week, month, year... life! :)

Warranties are only good for a year so I don't think you have one anymore anyway. However, I too have wondered about the magnet bit of this...our carts are a computer chip...I don't know. Numerous times I've thought about this little set up but something is holding me back so I'm choosing to follow my gut!

I can't wait to see what others say!

Have a great Holiday if I don't catch up with you before then!

Hey Jess! For whatever reason, I am having a hard time reading your blog because that game directly to the left overlapps the text of the most recent blog entry.

Is there any way you can make the game smaller?

Hi Jess, the holder that the pens fits into looks exactly like the blade housing of the cricut, only purple, the pens are plastic and just snap into place. I have been using them with various carts for a while now and not had any problems. I think PC say that about ANYTHING that is not manufactured by them. My carts certainly cut in the conventional way after I have used them for 'drawing', so no problems to report.
